globalization v localization

okay. the globalists win. there is a wal-mart in every city. a coffee franchise on every corner. short-term gains have won over long-term plans. in this Monopoly(tm) game, they are the winners. but what have they won?

all they’ve done is proven the impossibility of globalization. on this finite planet, they’ve run out of room (predictably). now they want to spread, like a virus–no, like a cancer, into space. but that will take energy we don’t have, and technology we don’t have, and time we don’t have, and cooperation (or submission) we don’t have.

wouldn’t localization be funner and truer?
