i’m scrupulous about my email inbox. afterall, people are trying to communicate with me. my inbox currently has seven items in it–all read, all filed. i never throw anything away (except duplictes). why should i? storage is free, and unlike conspiracy theorists, i’ve got nothing to hide. i use google and its differently coloured stars and labels to organize my and other people’s communications. i try to use technology to foster greater communication.
but i think people are using technology to hide from technology. letting their inbox overflow like a plugged toilet, checking call display first, preferring facebook to not only good old email, but also to face-to-face conversation.
okay. regarding inbox management, i have an excuse. i have a pretty severe speech impediment. i also have time on my hands. but isn’t communication worth it?
